The Mother’s Day Flip!

Today is my Mommy’s first Mother’s Day. And to celebrate, I flipped out! At precisely 4:50pm I rolled from my back to my tummy. I never did that before. It was sort of surprising actually. I wasn’t sure how I was looking at the ceiling one second, then looking at the floor. I cried at first. But really - it was fun!

To celebrate Mother’s Day my Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Grandpa Cohen, and Aunt Allison all went out for brunch.

Last year on Mother’s Day I did something exciting too. That’s when I first told Mommy and Daddy that I was in Mommy’s tummy! But I’ll save that story for another day.

Here’s a photo from a few days ago. Soon, I’ll post some more pictures.

Ah, the life of a blogger

Daddy took this photo while I was hard at work on my latest post:

Like a good professional blogger I spend all day in my pajamas. Sure beats working for a living!

Let’s go for a stroll!

Last Saturday, the weather was warm so I went for a stroll with Mommy and Daddy. At first I thought I was gong for a car ride, but then Daddy put my car seat on wheels! Wow!

We met some nice neighbors and several dogs. Woof woof!

This is a picture of me in my car seat on wheels, in front of my house. There’s still cold white stuff on the ground but it’s melting fast. Mommy says that soon we’ll be able to go for strolls all the time.

Let’s go Shopping!

I know what you’ve all been wondering what I’ve been doing. Last Saturday, we went shopping! This was my first time at this big place called a Mall. There were so many people there. That must have been everyone in the entire world!

Daddy took some pictures of course. Here they are!

Here I am in my car seat, which attaches to a big gizmo with wheels. This is after we went into the mall.

I got hungry at the mall, but Mommy was very well prepared. Mommy keeps all my important stuff in the red bag. We all ate together in the food court. Someday I’ll try what Mommy and Daddy ate but not yet. They had Indian food which they said was very good.

Here I am being burped. With so many people around it was so loud Daddy couldn’t even hear my great burps. We met some nice people in the mall. The women in the background of this picture are mother and daughter, and the daughter is pregnant. I gave her some tips. We met lots of other small people, especially in the elevator, but nobody as little as me. Daddy said I can’t ride the escalator until I can walk. That’s ok, elevators are a lot of fun.

Everyone says I’m cute. They must be right.

In the food court was this giant thing with horses called a carousel. Bigger kids were on the horses. When I’m bigger, Mommy and Daddy will take me there again so I can go for a ride. For now, I’m fine in my car seat.

My hat is a bit too big for my head so it falls over my eyes sometimes. Someday all the kids will wear hats this way.

So that was my trip to the mall. We didn’t buy very much, but I have some ideas for next time. I’m sure we’ll go back soon.

Daddy and I were up for a snack at 3:30am. I thought we’d say Hello.

I’ve been busy!

I’ve been home for three days now. I like it here. All the same people that visited me at the hospital visit me here too. The fuzzy creatures like me when I’m quiet, but when I cry they run away. I can’t wait until I can run after them, I think that will be fun.

I like that I still sleep in the same room as Mommy and Daddy. I go into another room when I need a new diaper. Some people call it my room, but I think they’re wrong. It has a bigger bed than I need. Not as big as Mommy or Daddy’s bed, but it’s still very big. And it has a fence around the bed. I think I’ll just stay in the same room as Mommy and Daddy.

I don’t remember much of the ride home from the hospital. I was wearing lots of clothing, more than I wore in the hospital. It was comfortable so I took a nap. I’ll show you more pictures another time but this is one that Daddy took of me in my comfortable seat.

When we got home, something funny happened. The big balloon that Auntie Debbie bought me flew away. I thought it was sad at first, but everyone laughed so it must be funny. The string fell off in the car, and when Mommy opened the door the balloon flew away. Daddy took a picture.

Balloon flies away

He thinks the balloon will land near someone else’s house. I don’t know how, it was going up into the sky. If it does land near someone else’s house I hope they have a baby girl too so they can use the balloon.

I am getting very good at eating. Mommy and Daddy feed me right away when I tell them that I am hungry. I’ve learned how to tell them. Sometimes I also tell them when I need a new diaper but I really don’t like being changed. I’m a lot happier when changing is done. I have lots of different outfits, many more than I had at the hospital.

Daddy has more pictures, but I’ll have to show you another time. I’m very busy here, eating, sleeping, and being pretty. I mostly like the sleeping part.

I promise I will show everyone more pictures soon.

Last Full Day at the Hospital

Hello everyone. I’ve had a very long day today, but the big news is Mommy and Daddy are taking me to that “home” place tomorrow. I’m a little scared, but as long as Mommy and Daddy are there I think I’ll be ok.

More people visited me today, including Daddy’s friend Cheryl. She gave Mommy a game so she must be very nice.

I will write more later, to tell everyone what I think of home. I also heard something about being in a car. So far in my life I’ve never been in anything that moved except for a bassinet. Daddy says a car is much bigger. I hope he can push it. It has a special seat, just for me.

Daddy took more pictures today. Mommy even took some, so everyone will know what Daddy looks like.

Pacifiers are so Monday!

Today was my most interesting day yet. I’m getting even better at eating and all sorts of other things. Lots of people came to visit.

Daddy took one of my blankets away, but that was ok because nice nurses keep bringing me more. Daddy said he was going somewhere else, a place called “home” for just a little while. It sounds very interesting. He said there are two furry creatures just about my size named Simon and Zoey, and that they might like me more if they smelled my blanket. So I said it was ok. I thought I heard something about a room in this “home” place just for me, but that doesn’t make sense because I’m always with Mommy and Daddy.

I know yesterday I was all gangbusters about my pacifier discovery, but it turned out to be just a passing fad. Other kids can have them if they want, but I’m changing with the times.

Let’s get something straight. If anyone asks how to pronounce my name, it’s with a soft “A”, like Ahhhhhhhriella. If you need to give me a nickname, Ella is ok, but not Ari. That’s a boys name! I’m not sure what a boy is, but I hear they’re yucchy.

There are even more wonderful photos of myself to look at today. Everyone says I’m the cutest baby ever, so it must be true. I’m way cuter than the other babies in the nursery if I do say so myself.

Late tonight Daddy did something he’d never done before, ever. He changed a diaper! He was pretty good at it, I only screamed a little. I think he’ll get even better with more practice. He learned from Mommy, she’s an diaper changing expert!

My first full day, and what a full day it was!

Today was my first day outside of Mommy’s belly. I’m starting to get the hang of this world. Cry, sleep, eat, it’s pretty easy. Mommy, Daddy, and all my relatives make it quite pleasant.

I made a wonderful discovery today. A plastic thing called a pacifier. I like this thing! I can’t imagine how I lived my first few hours without it. It’s very calming to have in my mouth. I can get a little cranky when it drops out, but I don’t need it all the time.

All my grandparents came to visit me again today. Auntie Deb came too, and brought me presents! I like presents.

Mommy is recovering very well. She walked around a lot today. I really like my Mommy. I like my Daddy too. I remember hearing him a lot when I was inside Mommy’s belly. He talks in jibberish sometimes but that’s ok, he’s my Daddy.

Daddy sure likes taking pictures. Whenever I hear a clicking sounds, I know Daddy’s not too far away. Here are a few pictures Daddy took today.

Daddy also took some movies today. He told me that some of them need to be edited after we get home, but as a preview he gave me one movie to post on my web site today.

Thank you again for reading my web site. I may be less than 36 hours old but I’m really enjoying reading everyone’s comments. When we’re busy doing other things, Daddy reads all of them to Mommy and me.

Hello World, I was born today!

Hi everyone! My name is Ariella Lee Cohen, and I was born today!

I was born at 1:10pm today, January 21, 2007. I weigh eight pounds and nine ounces, and am nineteen inches long. I was delivered by cesarian, which was really easy for me. My Mommy did really well too.

Here are a few pictures of me and my new family.

Thanks so much for visiting my new web site. Check back soon, tomorrow is my first full day here so I might have more to say!
